Arabesque –purveyor of fine antique and contemporary carpets. Since its inception in 1978 Arabesque has made available to its clients, woven art works created by the legendary giants of the Eastern world, including the great Kermani, of 16th Century Persia and Motashem of 18th Century Iran.
Arabesque’s founder, Ali Banaei recently listened with appreciation as his prized acquisition –a signed 16th Century Kermani was described by the curator of Iran’s National Museum as, “a national treasure”.
As Ali is the company’s sole purchaser, who travels directly to the source, the clients of Arabesque are spared the expense of the middleman.
As a young boy he had served his uncle’s
clients at the Grand Bazaar of Teheran, as carpets were critiqued, admired,
bought and sold. He would later visit the village weavers and travelled
with the legendary nomadic weavers, the Qashqa’i, who claim, “Life
is colour, colour
Let Ali colour your life.
